Freigabeprozess PM Logistic-Gruppe

The process begins with the recording of metals, materials, activity and dimensions. The materials are then sorted, dismantled, treated or melted down to create a uniform material base. This processing is followed by the release test, in which the activity concentration (in becquerels per gram, Bq/g) is determined.

Clearance levels to be observed:

  • < 0.1 Bq/g
  • < 0.6 Bq/g
  • < 4 Bq/g

If the materials meet these limits, they can be sent for conventional recycling or disposal – for example, by recycling or disposal in the regular waste stream.

For materials that still exceed the clearance values, the diagram shows the decay process. This involves the temporary storage of radioactive substances until their activity has decreased to a safe level through natural decay.
